Ever feel happy going to work?

We had our Christmas party over the past weekend. It was amazing - ice sculptures of currency pairs, fabulous surroundings at the country club, and good times all around.

This is one of the few times in my life where I love getting up to go to work (even when I go in at like 5 am). I am in a place where I enjoy what I'm doing, I get along with my coworkers, and I generally feel good about my life as it stands. There are still some loose ends to tie up (namely settling some things with one person in particular in South Florida), but there isn't a moment where I get up in the morning anymore and say "I really don't want to go to work."

Things are constantly improving, and that's more than I could say 8 months ago.

Home Sweet Not!

Well, after a stint in Miami, I'm back in the Orlando area. This happened in May, but I really hadn't got around to posting it here.

The reasons are complex. I had an Orlando opportunity, but things were also not going well in Miami - some of which was my fault. I didn't see any point in prolonging things. One of my friends probably thinks I did it because I was out of place in Miami. That is partially true, although on the other side, from a personal standpoint that person didn't make it easier. I blame an incident in March - after that night, things changed dramatically. I will say that I bear my share of the responsibility for things going as they did, but the difference is that I will make those things right, while the other person felt they did nothing to make the situation as it was.

For a long while after I moved back, I felt the social situation was one that was a personal failing, but I've moved on from that idea. Once here, I took my license exam for a new position, and have since begun work for an up and coming brokerage firm. I *love* my job now, and there's a lot of room for growth.

I recently (as of my birthday in August) moved into a new 1200 sq foot apartment here (which I don't have nearly enough furniture to fill), I've met an absolutely fantastic young woman who I'm getting to know better, and I feel pretty good about life right now. Everything isn't perfect yet, but I'm moving in the right direction.

Miami is a chapter that's passed - I learned a lot about true friendship, the trials and tribulations of moving to a new city, and the kind of person I want to be. Here's hoping the career and social life bonuses keep going.

Absence - Absent - Absent Minded?

I'm very sorry about the lack of updates. I've been job searching and will be moving to Miami very soon, so my time to update has been horrifically limited. I'm planning on continuing Rahxephon and other things I've been watching.

There are bigger and better things coming, you'll just have to be patient :)

"Now young Mr. Moon flew away in the night
With his best friend Magnus right by his side
They soared through the Milky Way counting the stars
Once around Venus, twice around Mars

Then they spied an island rise out of the sea
They fell back to Earth just as free as you please
The children all gathered the church bells did ring
Suddenly everyone started to sing:

Chanson pour les petits enfants
Chanson pour toute le monde
Chanson pour les petits enfants
Chanson pour toute le monde"

About Me

I'll work on making this a more creative "About Me", but for now, this placeholder will do (and I'll even speak about myself in the third person so it sounds more pretentious).

----------------------

The author of this webpage was born in Pittsburgh, PA. Living in Valencia, PA (aka, the sticks), he led one of those idyllic childhoods that would make most people ill unless it were the introduction to a fictional novel.

His family moved to the Orlando, FL area when he was 12. After about 2 years there, they uprooted and moved to Naples, FL. He lived in Pelican Bay in Naples for 3 years, then the family decided to move back to the Orlando area again. After 4 years at Lake Brantley, it was off to UF for a year, then a transfer to FSU (which in retrospect was a bad idea, but he didn't know that at the time). Looking at engineering and sciences as majors, he eventually settled on degrees in economics and computer science.

He now works for a brokerage firm in Lake Mary, FL (outside of Orlando) and enjoys making sure the firm has SERIOUS clients. As a broker and market analyst, he keeps tabs on all the major currency markets.

Still looking at HK...

I apologize for the infrequent updates. Since getting my degree in Economics, I've been trying to prepare myself for a probable move to Hong Kong. I keep talking with various companies, and a lot of them seem interested in my specific background and skillset. As a result, I've been unable to update for a month (exams, then more recently various tasks).

As I learn more about Asia and Hong Kong, I'll let people know. This has been my dream, I'm trying to keep in contact with the people I've been talking to on a regular basis.

My parents have been suffering through the waterlogging in New England, but they'll be back on their boat soon somewhere in the Virgin Islands, and then speeding off (as much as a sailboat can speed) to Trinidad. Since my mom's broken leg, they're way behind schedule.

Oh... maybe I never told anyone here. My parents live on a sailboat and sail around the world (currently, the Caribbean and South America). They enjoy the lifestyle. Is it any wonder where my wanderlust comes from?

My brother has been travelling a lot, but lately he's grown weary of it. I haven't got there yet. My biggest dream has always been to go to Asia, get a good job there, and spend my spare time travelling. Our planet is full of such fascinating people and places, and although I can't possibly see them all in my lifetime, I'm making it a goal to see as many as possible. I've travelled extensively in my life with my family and I want to continue the journey.

Anyways, I'll get back to RahXephon. I'm thinking about some other newer series too. I refuse to blog the revisionist Gundam Seed Destiny miniseries thing that's been on recently. It redoes some of the scenes in GSD, and admittedly, the scenes are much better in some cases. But I can't continually blog the same series over and over. I'm wondering what will be on the final few GSD dvds once they're released. Will the last one have Final Plus, or the original episode 50, or both? New viewers would be terribly confused by the old 50.

Keep an eye out... I *promise* that updates are coming.
